Vampire Academy

Title: Vampire Academy
Author: Richelle Mead
Genre: YA
Review:
I have to admit this book made me a little bit stand-offish because the whole vampire thing. Ever since Twilight I have been trying to avoid them but my friend Kelsey fell in love with this series and I was like what the heck I guess I will try it. And I guess you could say I fell in love with it too. I loved how the book wasn't just about vampires but that it was through the eyes of a young Dhampir girl. And boy was Rose a fun character to interact with. She is strong, sexy, and funny everything in my mind a female heroine should be. She may give off these really tough girl vibes but in all reality she is just as sweet and caring as the next girl. The bond between herself and her best friend Lissa I think keeps her this way. I can't wait to get my hands on the next books in the series! I would definitely tell anyone who hates the vamps due to Twilight to give them a chance in Vampire Academy because its definitely worth it. Happy Reading!!!

Barnes and Noble Synopsis:

St. Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school—it's a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They've been on the run, but now they're being dragged back to St. Vladimir's—the very place where they're most in danger. . . .
Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy's ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world's fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.
